Magical Evolution

By Karen Powers Wan

There are times in our lives when we are ready to evolve to the next level of our being. We may not think we’re ready, but life offers an opportunity to grow.

Change calls to us every day. Most of us would prefer our changes to feel magical or at least not painful. We do have some control over our experience of change.

Yes, many of opportunities for growth don’t feel magical, especially if they involve loss. Someone we love dearly may move out of our lives, have less time for us or die. Our work may suddenly change or disappear. We start a new job, get fired, promoted, or retire.

Some change feels magical in an easy way. We may enter a new relationship unlike any other that helps us to see the wonder in life. Good fortune can come to us unexpectedly.

We may find ourselves on an adventure moving across the country during a pandemic like our mindful earthkeeper collaborator, Dr. Lisa Wipplinger did in 2020.

When we are ready to receive more joy and contentment into our lives, often we have consciously or unconsciously opened ourselves to a new way of seeing and experiencing the world when we move into these experiences.

Preparing ourselves for Magic

Preparing ourselves to receive “magic” is something we’ll be doing in various ways this year in the Mindful Earthkeeper blog and our programs. Partially, because the earth needs us to bring more joy into our actions.

Whether we see the magic in life’s changing conditions, depends upon our state of mind, and we can change our minds through meditation, contemplation, study and reflection. Moving into greater mindfulness opens us to new realities that we had not noticed when are minds are closed.

Fingers crossed, we will move out of a global pandemic this year, and this will give us an opportunity to look for what mastery we developed during these last few difficult years.

Looking for the wisdom we gained from life’s experiences, is another way we create the conditions for magic.

As compassionate people, we know how lonely and difficult life can be. We know that being able to help someone else can feel more uplifting than ourselves. That’s a kind of magic we can create this year.

Another type of magic we can create is to heal the earth in some way. The world needs us to master our restorative magic for ourselves and for the rest of life.

Magic is not just wondrous moments created by life or outside forces; it’s something we can create within ourselves.

Our way of moving through our days and weeks, no matter what changes are happening is where the deepest magic happens. Some of you have shown that mastery during the pandemic. Honor yourself for that!

Whatever happens in 2022, let’s see what magic we can create together!
