The last few weeks have been quite wintry in the Chicago area where I live, and it got me to thinking about something I created back in 2019, a class called Slow Down To Restore.
Part of the reason, I created that particular class is because it was one way of connecting mindfulness to earthkeeping. In it, I review different types of mindfulness practices that I believe can be useful to any earthkeeper. These practices are:
- Shamata Meditation
- Visualizations to Connect with Life (I now call this EcoResonance)
- Body Scans
- Lovingkindness Meditation
- Gratitude Meditation
Each of these practices offers a different benefit to us as earthkeepers.
Shamata helps us to be authentic, grounded, more creative. It develops our focus and for some people can lead to spiritual awakening.
I believe that Connecting to life or EcoResonant meditations allow us to energetically connect with the rest of life on the quantum levels. It’s more like a prayer.
Body scans can help us to be a form of biofeedback, where we can heal our own health.
Lovingkindness meditation is another way of connecting to the rest of life and expanding our compassion.
Gratitude meditation keeps us from being too caught up in our worries and anxieties. It helps us to appreciate the value of being a human in this amazing world we call earth.
There are certainly many other types of meditation that you might practice. These five are the ones that have helped me stay centered as a Mindful Earthkeeper.
If you would like to practice these meditations, and also explore a few checklists that I created for Slow Down to Restore, consider joining me for the Slow Down to Restore class that begins on Thursday, January 25th at 7:30 pm CST.
